22-year-old footballer Abdukodir Khusanov held meetings in Minsk with Belarusian Sports Minister Sergey Kovalchuk, the country's football federation leadership, and his first senior coach Anatoly Yurevich. Under Yurevich, Khusanov began his career at Energetik-BGU, now known as SKA-1938.
The defender thanked his mentor and acknowledged the Belarusian championship as a crucial step: 'I remember everything very well. I am grateful to Anatoly Ivanovich. Thanks to him, I came here and then moved to Lens. He and the Belarusian championship helped me a lot. What I remember most? How Anatoly Ivanovich scolded me,' Khusanov said with a smile.
Yurevich highlighted his former protégé's character, hard work, and constant willingness to learn and improve.
Khusanov also visited his former club at the Stayki training center, meeting current SKA-1938 players. This served as a major motivational boost for the young squad. He shared how he progressed from the Belarusian Premier League to the starting lineup of an English Premier League giant in just a few years, emphasizing that the Belarusian stage was a vital foundation for his global football journey.
The club thanked Khusanov for the engaging dialogue and advice to young players.
As a memento of the meeting with the sports minister, Khusanov presented Kovalchuk with a signed Manchester City jersey.
Recall that Khusanov played for Energetik-BGU from 2022, then moved to French club Lens. In January 2025, the defender became a Manchester City player.
