A tragic road accident occurred in the Guria region of Georgia near the Gomismta mountain resort. On the evening of August 12, a minibus veered off the road and fell into a gorge, resulting in the deaths of four people and injuries to fifteen others.

The minibus was carrying 19 tourists from Belarus. According to Georgia's Ministry of Internal Affairs, the driver failed to ensure safe vehicle operation, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway. The driver, a Georgian citizen, survived and was not seriously injured.

Four of the injured were taken to hospitals in Ozurgeti and Chokhatauri, while another eleven are being treated at the Batumi Republican Hospital. Two victims are in intensive care, but according to the chief physician, their lives are not in danger.

Georgian law enforcement has opened a criminal case into the accident. The culprit faces up to ten years in prison. The minibus driver has been detained.

The Belarusian Embassy in Georgia is providing consular assistance to the victims, and the Belarusian consul has traveled to the scene. Earlier, in the Syrdarya region of Uzbekistan, a collision between a truck and a Chevrolet Captiva resulted in three deaths.
