The epidemiological situation regarding the plague in Uzbekistan reportedly remains stable, with officials asserting there is no cause for public alarm. The Ministry of Health issued an official statement following recent media reports concerning a suspected case of the dangerous infection in Russia's Irkutsk Oblast, which has triggered regional precautionary measures.

Over the past few days, various Russian media outlets and social media channels circulated unverified claims about a potential fatal plague case in Irkutsk. However, local health regulators, including Rospotrebnadzor, indicated that the diagnosis has not yet been officially confirmed, and specialists are continuing the necessary diagnostic procedures and laboratory verifications.

Nurmat Atabekov, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Wellbeing and Public Health, stated that the Uzbek authorities are maintaining strict preventive measures to block the introduction of particularly dangerous infections. A network of 53 sanitary-control posts remains operational across international airports, railway stations, and highway checkpoints to monitor incoming travelers and conduct secondary examinations when deemed necessary.

Furthermore, regional sanitary-epidemiological laboratories have reportedly been stocked with diagnostic materials, chemical reagents, and nutrient media to swiftly identify any traces of highly contagious pathogens. The ministry maintains that the current sanitary surveillance architecture is theoretically capable of detecting potential outbreaks at an early stage, mitigating external health risks.
