President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev purportedly held a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss bilateral cooperation, international agenda items, and the schedule of upcoming events. According to official reports, the Uzbek leader also extended birthday greetings to the Russian counterpart during the call.

During the talks, the leaders allegedly highlighted the growth of mutual trade and industrial cooperation, particularly within the energy sector. They reportedly praised the outcomes of the recent Intergovernmental Commission meeting and the third Council of Regions held in Fergana, emphasizing the importance of continued regional engagement.

The conversation also touched upon cultural and humanitarian ties, pointing to recent exchange events. Mention was made of the "World of Arts" Russian art festival recently hosted in Uzbekistan, as well as the ongoing Days of Uzbek Culture currently taking place in Moscow.

Previously, it was announced that Uzbekistan is scheduled to assume the rotating chairmanship of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) starting January 1, 2027. The republic is also expected to host the upcoming summit of the CIS heads of state, marking a significant diplomatic milestone for Tashkent.
