Tashkent recently hosted the meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission and the Council of Regions between Uzbekistan and Russia, focusing on bilateral economic ties. The participating parties reportedly agreed to continue joint efforts aimed at increasing mutual trade turnover and accelerating industrial zone projects, despite existing regional and logistical hurdles.

According to official reports, the meetings highlighted positive dynamics in bilateral commerce, alongside ongoing industrial, energy, metallurgical, and nuclear sector initiatives. However, analysts remain cautious regarding the actual implementation timelines, pointing to potential bureaucratic and financial bottlenecks that frequently complicate such large-scale transnational projects.

During the visit, the leadership of Uzbekistan received high-ranking Russian officials to review the practical execution of previously reached agreements at the highest level. These diplomatic engagements follow a recent telephone conversation between the heads of state, where they purportedly evaluated the outcomes of preceding regional forums held in Fergana.
