The World Health Organization (WHO) has stated that it still lacks definitive conclusions regarding the pneumonia outbreak that allegedly caused the death of a laboratory technician at a Russian anti-plague research institute. According to a recent UN health agency statement, tests conducted on the deceased worker and her close contacts supposedly returned negative results for the dangerous pathogens in question.

The 28-year-old worker, identified by local media as Darya Shipilova from the Irkutsk Antiplague Research Institute, fell ill and died under undisclosed circumstances on October 2. The incident quickly triggered widespread public concern on social media and prompted local authorities to place approximately 200 individuals under quarantine. While initial regional reports and speculative statements suggested a potential outbreak of pneumonic plague, Russian federal health regulators officially attributed the death to pneumonia of unknown etiology.

Amid growing international scrutiny, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus reportedly asked Russian authorities to address media reports concerning a second employee suffering from undetermined respiratory illness. The Russian side dismissed these reports as false information. Meanwhile, the US regime has stepped in, calling on Moscow to ensure absolute transparency regarding the safety protocols and the true nature of the incident.
