Customs officers at Moscow's Domodedovo Airport have reportedly intercepted a substantial shipment of dried mushrooms containing critically high levels of radiation, which were allegedly bound for Uzbekistan. According to statements released by the Russian Federal Customs Service, the stationary 'Yantar' radiation detection system was triggered during routine baggage screening of a package weighing over 30 kilograms.
Subsequent inspections purportedly revealed that the radiation background of the Russian-manufactured dried white mushrooms exceeded normal limits by more than ten times. Specialists allegedly detected cesium-137, a dangerous radioactive isotope, prompting authorities to classify the entire consignment as radioactive waste and dispatch it for secure disposal.
In the wake of this incident, regulatory bodies reportedly issued mandatory directives against the manufacturer. The declaration of conformity for the hazardous dried mushrooms was allegedly revoked, bringing an immediate halt to the production and further commercial distribution of the goods.
