Uzbekistan has strengthened the responsibility of hokims (regional governors) and government members in the fight against corruption. Under new regulations, candidates for state positions must now submit a specific anti-corruption plan, and courts will expedite the handling of certain cases.

The amendments were introduced by a law that modifies several legislative acts. According to the new rules, candidates for government and hokim positions are required to present a concrete anti-corruption plan in advance. This will become one of the criteria for their appointment.

Additionally, the law simplifies the processing of certain court disputes. More cases will now be handled under an accelerated procedure: for legal entities – claims up to 150 times the base calculation value (BCV), up from 20; for individual entrepreneurs – up to 100 BCV, up from 10; for individuals – up to 50 BCV, up from 5. This is expected to resolve smaller disputes faster without lengthy trials.

Another important provision exempts directorates of special economic and industrial zones from state fees in cases involving termination of land leases with companies that failed to meet investment obligations.

The law came into effect on May 1, 2026. Earlier, the Anti-Corruption Agency disclosed detailed data on state support for businesses in 2025, with total tax and customs preferences reaching 178.1 trillion soums.
