In Gijduvan district of Bukhara region, Uzbekistan, a theft of narcotic drugs intended for critically ill patients has been uncovered. A paramedic and nurses from the anesthesiology and resuscitation department of the district medical association were involved in the theft.
According to the investigation, the senior paramedic of the department abused his official position from 2023 to 2025, conspiring with nurses to illegally appropriate drugs containing narcotic substances: Morphine hydrochloride 1%, Promedol 2%, Fentanyl 0.005%, and Omnopon.
A total of 7,894 units of narcotic drugs worth 48.6 million Uzbek soums were stolen. Additionally, large batches of morphine, trimeperidine, fentanyl, and other narcotics were illegally appropriated.
The suspect has been charged under criminal articles 167, 228, and 271 of Uzbekistan's Criminal Code and placed in custody. An examination revealed that the accused suffers from drug addiction and requires compulsory treatment.
Case materials related to the nurses have been separated into a distinct proceeding. Investigative actions are completed, and the criminal case has been sent to court.
