In Tashkent, several public organizations, local history communities, and close friends of Boris Golender have put forward initiatives to commemorate the renowned historian. Suggestions vary widely: some propose installing a bronze figure in the city center, others lean toward a memorial bas-relief, and some are considering placing a memorial object in Charvak. A Podrobno.uz correspondent contacted the researcher's son, Gleb Golender, to learn how the family envisions a possible monument.

According to Gleb Golender, if the project comes to life, it should not turn into a massive monument. He considers a small, heartfelt art object carefully integrated into the urban environment to be the most suitable format. "We are talking about a small figure standing in a landmark location; a kind of 'bronze tour guide' inviting everyone for a walk around the capital. With an ever-present megaphone on his chest, glasses, and a sly smile on his lips," shared Gleb Golender, adding that protection against urban vandalism must also be considered when implementing the idea.

Assessing the active discussion of initiatives to preserve the researcher's memory, his son emphasized that the family is reserved about such public campaigns. According to him, Boris Anatolyevich himself always remained a very modest person. "Memory remains in the soul and heart, in books, online. Dad was a very modest person and never sought loud signs of recognition. But still, if a bronze figure of Golender Sr. appeared somewhere on a street in our city, I would be very pleased," concluded the local historian's son.

Recall that the famous historian, writer, and local lore expert Boris Golender passed away on February 5, 2026, at the age of 79. Over decades of work, he became one of the most recognizable experts on the history of Uzbekistan and Tashkent in particular: he conducted tours, wrote books, appeared on television, and spoke about the region in numerous media projects.
