A traffic accident involving two children occurred in the city of Olmaliq, Tashkent region, according to the regional traffic safety department.
On May 12 at around 2:00 PM, on Amir Temur Street in Olmaliq, a 26-year-old driver identified as C.D. struck two 9-year-old children who were crossing the road at a pedestrian crossing.
One of the pedestrians died in the hospital from injuries sustained. The other victim was hospitalized.
A criminal case has been initiated by the Olmaliq city police department. The driver has been taken into custody, and investigative actions are underway.
Earlier, a 10-year-old child died in a similar accident in Khorezm region. Uchqun Aminboyev was supposed to finish the 3rd grade this year but died in a crash on May 4. The victim's father told Gazeta that three people have died at the pedestrian crossing near Yangi Urganch in two years, urging authorities to install a traffic light.
