A nighttime raid by the environmental police in the Tayloq district of Samarkand region uncovered illegal extraction of sand and gravel mixture. The damage to nature is estimated at a record 295 billion soums.
The inspection was carried out by employees of the department for control over the Zarafshan River and its protected territories. Around 1:30 AM, inspectors discovered citizens engaged in illegal extraction of sand and gravel from the riverbed of the Zarafshan River, despite an existing moratorium.
The work was carried out using a WOLVO excavator without state license plates. The extracted materials were loaded into KAMAZ and HOWO trucks.
According to preliminary data, the offense caused damage to nature in the amount of 295 billion 238 million 402 thousand 640 soums.
The case materials have been sent to law enforcement agencies for appropriate action. Earlier, in the Samarkand region, the environmental police had already stopped illegal sand and gravel extraction from the Karadarya River.
