Serious problems with air conditioning systems have been identified in public transport buses in Tashkent. According to a press conference held on May 14 by the company Toshshahartransxizmat, various malfunctions were detected in the air conditioners of 250 buses. Of these, 150 issues have been fully resolved, while repairs on the remaining 100 are ongoing.

Chief engineer Dilshodjon Mahmudov stated that out of the 1,987 buses currently in operation, 1,480 are equipped with air conditioners. The remaining 507 buses were manufactured without air conditioning systems. The detected malfunctions include refrigerant leaks, broken compressor belts, and problems with motor windings and bearings.

Company chairman Aziz Khujanov noted that Mercedes and Isuzu buses produced before 2023 lack cooling systems. He also mentioned that passengers have varying preferences regarding air conditioning, so the company tries to maintain a moderate temperature inside the buses.

In 2026, air conditioners in Tashkent buses began operating on May 7. The company promised not to dispatch buses with faulty air conditioners on routes and to promptly address any issues. Additional training for drivers on proper use of cooling systems is planned.

Toshshahartransxizmat assured that all passenger complaints will be reviewed in a timely manner and apologized for the temporary inconvenience. It is worth noting that until 2018, Tashkent buses had no air conditioning at all; currently, all new vehicles are equipped with cooling systems.
