The Uzbekistan national football team suffered a 2-1 defeat against the Netherlands in a friendly match ahead of the World Cup. Despite the loss, head coach Fabio Cannavaro expressed satisfaction with his team's performance, highlighting several positive aspects.
"I think we showed a lot of positive things. Even after the score became 1-0, we didn't lose our shape and line on the field. We continued to play as a team and fought until the end. Playing against teams of this level is not easy, but I saw many positives in my team's play," Cannavaro said.
The Italian coach emphasized the importance of such matches for gaining experience. "We need exactly these kinds of games. Because when you face such opponents, you always learn something and gain experience. Overall, I am satisfied with the match," he added.
Cannavaro also addressed the errors made by his players, noting that mistakes are inevitable in football. "Football cannot be played without mistakes. This is absolutely normal. Our task is to help players reduce the number of such mistakes as much as possible," he stated.
Regarding physical preparation, Cannavaro said the team has done good work, although some legionnaires joined later. Preparations began more than a month ago.
Earlier, Uzbekistan lost 2-0 to Canada in another friendly. The national team will play its first World Cup match on June 18 at 8:00 AM Tashkent time against Colombia in Mexico.
