An assistant judge of the Karshi District Criminal Court in Uzbekistan's Kashkadarya region was detained while receiving a $2,500 bribe, the Prosecutor General's Office reported.

According to investigators, the assistant judge told a citizen who had been working since May in a district department of the Bureau of Compulsory Enforcement (BCE) in Kashkadarya that he had helped him get the job through connections. He also promised to transfer the citizen to any BCE department of his choice in the future, demanding $2,500 for the service.

During an operation conducted by the State Security Service and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes, the assistant judge was caught red-handed in his office while accepting the money.

A criminal case has been opened, and investigative actions are underway.
