The forest planted by Aleksandr Grigorevich Fedin on the shore of the Oqtepa reservoir in Surxondaryo region will be transformed into a dendrological park. This was reported by the press service of the National Committee for Ecology and Climate Change.

Advisor to the President on environmental issues, committee chairman Aziz Abduhakimov met with Aleksandr Fedin in Jarqo‘rg‘on district of Surxondaryo and inspected the garden.

During the conversation, Fedin was informed that he would be hired by the Forestry Agency, which is part of the Ecology Committee system. In addition, a dendrological garden with a total area of 1,500 hectares will be established on the reservoir territory, where he has been creating a habitat for wild animals, birds, and other biodiversity objects for many years.

Taking into account Fedin's many years of labor, his contribution to nature conservation, and his social situation, he will be provided with a service house with all necessary amenities on the territory of the future dendrological park, the committee emphasized.

Necessary conditions will also be created for park employees. In particular, they will be provided with vehicles to guard the area.

Earlier, Gazeta reported the story of Aleksandr Fedin and the forest he created. He began planting a 101-hectare forest on the shore of the Oqtepa reservoir in Surxondaryo region back in the late 1980s. According to the regional ecology department, about 30 animal species and over 500 tree species, including those listed in the Red Book, have been recorded in the area.

In early June, poet and journalist Fozil Farhod reported that Fedin was forced to leave the forest and was subsequently placed in the regional branch of the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Mental Health. This news caused widespread public resonance.

Subsequently, the presidential administration and the National Ecology Committee took the situation under special control. The committee stated that Fedin is receiving necessary medical care, and issues of his employment and provision of decent living conditions are being developed.

Aleksandr Fedin was awarded the “Nature Defender” badge in 2023. In August 2024, by decree of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, he was awarded the “Do‘stlik” Order as the head of the “Oqtepa” hunting farm.
