The story of Alexander Fedin has taken a positive turn: his decades-long effort to create a forest in the Surkhandarya region has been officially recognized. The unique forest area will be granted a new status as a dendrological park, and Fedin himself will receive a job in the forestry system and official housing.
Aziz Abdukhakimov, advisor to the president on environmental issues and chairman of the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change, visited the Jarkurgan district and met with Fedin, who for many years has been cultivating a forest around the Oktepa reservoir.
Fedin was informed that he will be employed by the Forestry Agency under the Ecology Committee. Additionally, the area around the Oktepa reservoir, which has developed into a unique natural complex home to wild animals, birds, and other fauna, will be transformed into a dendrological park covering 1,500 hectares.
In recognition of Fedin's long-term labor, contribution to nature conservation, and social situation, he will be provided with official housing with all necessary amenities directly on the territory of the future park. Conditions will also be created for other employees, including the provision of vehicles for territory protection.
Previously, Fedin's story gained wide resonance. He spent nearly 40 years creating a man-made forest on arid land, only to later lose the ability to continue his life's work and become homeless. Subsequently, the Presidential Administration, the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change, and the regional administration took the situation under control.
