According to the 2026 KidsRights Index, compiled by the Dutch foundation KidsRights in collaboration with Erasmus University Rotterdam, Uzbekistan ranked 96th out of 194 countries that are parties to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, dropping two places from the previous year.

The index assesses countries across five categories: life, health, education, protection, and enabling environment. Uzbekistan scored 0.679 points overall. Its best performance was in health (15th place), while the worst were in enabling environment (124th) and protection (115th).

The top-ranked countries are Luxembourg (0.871), Iceland (0.867), Monaco and Germany (both 0.866). The top 10 also include the Netherlands, Norway, Greece, Belgium, Slovenia, Austria, and Thailand.

Among Central Asian nations, Kazakhstan leads at 24th, followed by Turkmenistan (75th), Kyrgyzstan (82nd), and Tajikistan (92nd). For comparison: China ranks 81st, Russia 151st, Israel 110th, Ukraine 36th, and the UK 132nd. The US is not included as it has not ratified the UN Convention.

The KidsRights Index, published since 2013, is the only global ranking that evaluates children's rights compliance based on comparable statistical data.
