Starting July 1, Uzbekistan has implemented new ceiling prices for prescription drugs. According to Anvarkhon Akabirov, head of the information service of the Agency for the Development of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry, the prices were revised as of April 1, 2026.

The changes cover about 2,500 prescription drugs. As a result, prices for antibiotics and antimicrobial drugs have decreased by up to 50%, for cardiovascular drugs by up to 37%, for nervous system drugs by up to 40%, and for anti-inflammatory and painkillers by up to 42%.

Citizens can now check the ceiling prices of prescription drugs independently via the website pharm.gov.uz or the PharmUz mobile app. Users can also compare the set ceiling price with the actual price in pharmacies and file complaints if violations are found.

Earlier, a pharmaceutical manufacturer from Tashkent was fined for using images of historical figures in advertising. The video featured Amir Temur, Avicenna, Alisher Navoi, as well as George Washington, Julius Caesar, and Napoleon Bonaparte.
