Officials from a commercial bank, deputy governors (hokim yordamchilari) in mahallas, and other individuals in the Beruniy district of Karakalpakstan have colluded to embezzle 1.4 billion soums (approximately $115,000) that had been issued as loans to 37 citizens.

A pre-investigation check by the Department under the General Prosecutor's Office in Beruniy district revealed that responsible employees of the commercial bank's banking services center, deputy governors in seven mahallas, and other persons acted as part of a criminal group.

It was found that they misappropriated preferential funds allocated to 37 citizens, totaling 1.4 billion soums.

A criminal case has been initiated under relevant articles of the Criminal Code. Investigative actions are currently underway.
