On July 4, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev chaired a videoconference meeting dedicated to the socio-economic development of the Sergeli district in Tashkent and the creation of a safe environment in mahallas.

The meeting focused on developing transport infrastructure connecting Sergeli with other districts of the capital. The need to accelerate the construction of a new bridge on the Tashkent Ring Road, which will connect Sergeli, Bektemir, and Yangihayot districts, was emphasized.

Additionally, construction of a 5.5-kilometer bus lane under the BRT system on Yangi Sergeli Street is planned for next year. This lane will be connected to Shota Rustaveli Street.

This year, traffic safety on the 23-kilometer main road of Sergeli will be reviewed. Specifically, 455 “smart” traffic lights at intersections, renovation of 150 bus stops, and organization of a parking lot for 10,000 vehicles are planned.

The meeting noted that in recent years, 30,000 new apartments, 2 million square meters of industrial, commercial, and service facilities have been built in Sergeli, and the district's area has expanded to 5,600 hectares.

At the same time, problems in transport, roads, electricity, water supply, and sewage were noted as needing resolution.

In particular, an order was given to eliminate the stench around treatment facilities, which has caused justified complaints from residents of Sergeli and Yangihayot, by September 1. The president instructed the installation of modern filtration equipment at treatment facilities and the start of construction of a new station with a capacity of 300,000 cubic meters in the Quyichirchiq district with participation of partners from the United Arab Emirates. The meeting also addressed the shortage of public toilets in the capital, and it was ordered to put up land plots for auction to build 15-20 modern toilets in each district.
