A 25-year-old Russian citizen was killed in a traffic accident in Tashkent on the evening of July 10, Podrobno.uz reports.
According to relatives of the deceased and eyewitnesses, the tragedy occurred on Sadyk Azimov Street around 9:25 p.m. near the intersection by school No. 145, next to the Stellaris clinic and the Efendi restaurant.
Preliminary information suggests that a white BYD car (license plate 01C717MA) was driving from the Korzinka supermarket towards the school. At the same time, a dark-colored car of unknown make was making a left turn towards the Efendi restaurant from the opposite direction.
Eyewitnesses said the BYD driver tried to avoid a collision by sharply turning right, causing the car to mount the sidewalk, where it hit a young man standing near the Stellaris clinic and knocked down a road barrier.
Relatives of the deceased, citing doctors, said the injuries were incompatible with life, and death occurred at the scene.
The second car involved in the turn allegedly left the scene, according to witnesses. There was no official confirmation of this at the time of publication.
The deceased was identified as Alexander Litskevich, a Russian relocant who worked in IT and was involved in music and dance in Tashkent.
The victim's relatives arrived in Tashkent on the night of July 11-12. They are currently handling the necessary paperwork and plan to cooperate with the Russian embassy.
The family also expects the investigation to review CCTV footage that may help clarify the circumstances. The official cause of the accident and the degree of responsibility of those involved will be determined by the investigation.
