According to Podrobno.uz, Numbeo has released an updated ranking of the most expensive cities to live in worldwide. The global list includes 549 cities, with Tashkent placing 488th.

The Uzbek capital scored 31.2 points, ranking third in Central Asia after Kazakhstan's Almaty (40.1) and Astana (34.5), and 74th in Asia. Following Tashkent in the regional list are Dushanbe (29.9) and Bishkek (29.7).

The most expensive cities globally are Zurich (123.4) and Basel (111.9) in Switzerland, along with George Town in the Cayman Islands. At the opposite end, over ten Indian cities scored between 17.3 and 18.8 points, making them the cheapest.

The index uses New York City as a baseline with 100 points. Each point above or below indicates a 1% difference in cost of living. For example, living in Zurich is 23.4% more expensive than in New York, while Tashkent is 68.6% cheaper. The calculation considers rent, grocery and restaurant prices, and local purchasing power.
