President of Uzbekistan has signed a decree introducing a single customs payment rate starting January 1, 2027. The rate will be set at 20% of the goods' value, but not less than $2 per kilogram. This move aims to streamline customs processes for businesses and speed up border crossings.

From June 1, 2027, additional relaxations for entrepreneurs will come into effect. Minor discrepancies in certificates of origin will no longer be grounds for refusal, provided they do not alter the essence of the cargo. This is particularly beneficial for exporters, as such errors previously caused delays.

The ecological certificate for exports will become voluntary, and transit declarations can be submitted before the transport arrives at the border checkpoint. This will reduce waiting times and optimize logistics.

Furthermore, preliminary customs declarations will be allowed to serve as applications for obtaining permits. For low-risk goods, certificates will be issued in advance, eliminating the need to re-enter data in the final declaration and enabling expedited release of goods.

Earlier, it was reported that Uzbekistan expanded the powers of customs authorities: they can now officially use drones to combat smuggling and detect violations.
