According to the results of the Global Peace Index 2026, published by the Institute for Economics & Peace (IEP), Uzbekistan has secured the 37th position among 163 countries worldwide, demonstrating a high level of peacefulness.

The country's overall score in the index was 1.726 points. A year earlier, Uzbekistan was ranked 67th, showing a significant improvement over the year.

In this ranking, Uzbekistan is recognized as the leader in Central Asia in terms of security and stability. Among the countries in the region, Kazakhstan took 44th place, Tajikistan 47th, Kyrgyzstan 61st, and Turkmenistan 66th.

The top positions in the Global Peace Index 2026 are occupied by Iceland, New Zealand, and Switzerland. They are followed by Slovenia and Ireland, which took 4th and 5th places, respectively.

The last places in the Global Peace Index 2026 are held by Russia (163rd), Sudan (162nd), and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (161st). Slightly higher are Ukraine (160th), Israel (159th), South Sudan (158th), and Afghanistan (157th).

The index is calculated based on the level of peace and stability in countries using 23 indicators combined into three main areas: security and public order, ongoing domestic and international conflicts, the degree of involvement in external conflicts, and the level of militarization.
