Tashkent is continuing its phased effort to establish special zones for the safe drop-off and pick-up of schoolchildren. As of today, the practice covers nine schools in the capital.

Previously, such zones operated at two educational institutions — schools No. 5 and No. 42. Now new areas have appeared near schools No. 110, No. 89, No. 300, No. 154, No. 280, No. 195, and No. 64. These locations provide spaces for short-term vehicle stops, install necessary road signs, and apply appropriate road markings.

The main goal of the project is to streamline traffic during peak hours before and after classes, as well as to reduce chaotic vehicle stops directly near schools.

This approach is widely used in international practice under the names "Kiss & Ride" or "Kiss & Drop" in countries such as the USA, UK, Australia, Canada, Belgium, and the Netherlands, as well as in CIS states. Specialists continue to analyze the operation of the organized zones and are preparing to improve the approach taking into account the traffic situation on specific streets. The experience of the first sites will be used to further develop such zones at other schools in Tashkent.
