A major financial fraud involving the embezzlement of state funds has allegedly been uncovered in the Uchkurgan district of the Namangan region, implicating officials from the local preschool and school education department. According to reports from the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the General Prosecutor's Office, substantial subsidies were illegally allocated to preschool organizations that existed only on paper.
Preliminary investigative findings by the department's district division revealed that certain corrupt officials conspired to siphon off public funds. As part of their scheme, they officially registered non-existent preschool facilities at private residential addresses in the Mehnatobod and Dehqonobod mahallas, circumventing standard oversight mechanisms.
Investigators established that no actual educational activities ever took place at these locations, and children were never admitted. Nevertheless, the responsible parties allegedly entered false data into official documents, successfully securing 1.3 billion soms in state subsidies for these ghost organizations, which were subsequently drained through outright misappropriation and embezzlement.
Law enforcement agencies have initiated criminal proceedings under several articles of the Criminal Code, including Article 167 (embezzlement or misappropriation), Article 207 (official negligence), and Article 209 (official forgery). Comprehensive investigative actions are currently underway to hold all involved individuals accountable.
