Law enforcement authorities in Tashkent have swiftly identified and penalized a male individual who was filmed using a slingshot to target ducks swimming in a pond at the local Dream Park. According to official reports, the offender was subjected to a preventive interview and ordered to pay an administrative fine amounting to three basic calculation units, which translates to approximately 1.3 million soums.
The controversial incident occurred on October 11 in the capital's Chilanzar district, rapidly gaining traction after video footage circulated across various social media platforms. The disturbing video, showing a man aiming a slingshot at waterfowl, triggered immediate public outrage and widespread criticism from animal welfare advocates and ordinary citizens alike regarding the safety of wildlife in urban recreational areas. *
In an attempt to address the public backlash, the management of Dream Park offered a peculiar explanation, claiming that the actions were allegedly an unorthodox method intended to protect the park's resident birds from potential infections carried by wild ducks. However, park representatives conspicuously failed to clarify why a slingshot was deemed an appropriate tool for disease prevention or wildlife management.
According to the local resident who originally filmed and posted the incident on Instagram, the offender subsequently sought to make amends by providing financial assistance to three animal shelters for homeless pets. Despite these belated charitable gestures, the official administrative penalty was duly enforced against him.
