Authorities previously reported the detention of a prevention inspector from the Chirchik City Internal Affairs Department, who purportedly accepted 2,700 dollars from a criminal group leader to conceal a violent assault and passed 1,000 dollars to the victim. The inspector was apprehended while allegedly transferring an additional 300 dollars.
According to case files, 35-year-old N. A. served as the head of the crime prevention department within the public safety service, while 31-year-old D. R. worked as a prevention inspector. The case materials concerning the beating of citizen Sh. M. were under the direct procedural oversight of D. R. * The conflict erupted on February 17, 2026, at a local café in Chirchik. Reports indicate that an intoxicated female patron initiated a dispute with staff and visitors, prompting Sh. M. to intervene and attempt to calm the situation. The woman allegedly photographed the individuals and threatened that her son Umid and an underworld figure known as 'Islam Bukharsky' would soon arrive.
Roughly twenty minutes later, a group of men entered the establishment and lured Sh. M. outside. The victim claimed that about ten associates were waiting alongside him, while patrol police officers were stationed nearby. As one of the men grabbed his arm, Umid suddenly struck him in the jaw with a fist.
Subsequently, as the victim attempted to flag down a taxi, an unmarked vehicle approached him. A passenger identifying himself as Islam claimed acquaintance with Umid and provided a contact number. Shortly after, additional individuals, including Kurbonali Suponov known as 'Gera', attempted to force Sh. M. into a car. After a brief chase and physical assault, the victim lost consciousness and was taken to a hospital before being transferred to the police station.
Investigators established that the law enforcement officials intended to exploit the situation for financial gain, demanding money to drop legal proceedings against the attackers. On February 18, 2026, the officers allegedly received 2,700 dollars, split a portion among themselves, and distributed a share to the victim before being caught during a sting operation.
During the court proceedings, both defendants reportedly denied all charges against them. However, the court concluded that witness testimonies and communication records sufficiently verified their guilt. Consequently, N. A. and D. R. were convicted of bribery, falsification of evidence, and intentional concealment of a crime, receiving sentences of six years in a general-regime penal colony alongside a three-year ban from serving in internal affairs bodies.
