Law enforcement agencies in the Tashkent region have successfully neutralized a transnational drug trafficking network following a series of coordinated special operations. The joint interagency efforts were conducted by the Operational Search Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Security Service, and the Customs Committee.
During the initial operation along the Tashkent-Andijan highway near the city of Angren, officers apprehended the criminal group's leader alongside his accomplices traveling in a Tracker vehicle. The suspects were caught red-handed as they retrieved a large consignment of smuggled hashish weighing 13 kilograms from a hidden cache, allegedly brought in from a neighboring country.
A secondary operation carried out in the Pskent (Buka) district of the Tashkent region led to the arrest of a previously convicted drug dealer attempting to sell 2 kilograms of opium to a buyer for 20,000 US dollars. In total, authorities seized 15 kilograms of narcotic substances, effectively preventing a substantial distribution wave.
According to official estimates, the confiscated opium and hashish amount to approximately 75,000 single doses on the illegal market. Criminal proceedings have been initiated against the detained individuals under part 6 of Article 273 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and all suspects have been remanded in custody.
