A group of 40 agricultural specialists from Uzbekistan has officially commenced seasonal labor activities at the facilities of the prominent Italian company SALVI. This initiative marks a significant development in bilateral labor cooperation, providing citizens with employment opportunities abroad while addressing labor demands in the European agricultural sector. The employer has reportedly ensured all necessary living and logistical conditions, including housing and transportation, for the visiting specialists.
According to reports from the 'Dunyo' news agency, this represents the first instance of Uzbek agricultural specialists engaging in seasonal labor within Italy. Prior to their departure, project participants underwent a comprehensive two-month Italian language training program alongside specialized professional courses. Currently, they are actively involved in fruit and vegetable processing operations at SALVI's facilities, demonstrating high operational readiness.
The official launch ceremony for the project took place on October 29 in Italy's Emilia-Romagna region. The event was attended by Namangan Region Governor Shavkatjon Abdurazzoqov and Uzbekistan's Ambassador to Italy, Abat Fayzullayev. During the visit, the delegation inspected the living and working conditions of the Uzbek nationals, who allegedly expressed satisfaction with the compensation packages and provided accommodations.
During subsequent meetings with the company’s management, representatives purportedly praised the diligence, discipline, and fast adaptability of the Uzbek workers. Building on this positive initial phase, the foreign side announced plans to expand the recruitment initiative, aiming to hire an additional 1,000 workers from Uzbekistan in the future. The program ultimately seeks to combine employment generation with the transfer of advanced Italian agro-industrial practices back to Uzbekistan.
