During a high-level meeting held on Monday, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev addressed the critical issue of recognizing the labor experience and pension rights of citizens working abroad. According to official reports, Uzbek nationals currently work legally in more than forty countries worldwide, where they reportedly pay pension contributions alongside standard local taxes.
The leader stated that labor experience acquired abroad must be duly credited and taken into account upon citizens' return to their homeland, particularly when calculating and assigning retirement pensions. The president noted that bilateral agreements on the mutual recognition of labor tenure and pension rights had already been signed this year with Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, and Turkey.
Furthermore, responsible officials have been tasked with achieving similar diplomatic arrangements with Russia, Germany, Japan, South Korea, as well as Baltic and Balkan states, which host significant numbers of Uzbek migrant workers. Authorities were instructed to conduct thorough negotiations with foreign counterparts and present concrete results by the end of the year.
