According to the Agency for Drug and Firearms Control under the Administration of the President of Uzbekistan, law enforcement agencies identified and closed eight illegal drug manufacturing laboratories in January-February 2026. These measures successfully prevented the release of 375 kilograms of narcotics, psychotropic, and potent substances into the market before they could enter circulation.
The largest portion of the seized substances – 42% or 146 kilograms – consists of hashish. Marijuana ranks second, accounting for 33% or 113 kilograms. The remainder comprises other types of narcotic and psychotropic substances. The agency emphasized that these figures indicate a persistent serious level of drug-related issues in the country.
Previously, in the Fergana and Namangan regions, law enforcement seized nearly 21,000 units of potent medicinal drugs and over 300 grams of narcotics. These incidents reaffirmed the importance of regional cooperation and continuous monitoring in combating drug trafficking. The Uzbek government stated its intention to continue the fight against drug trade and consumption, highlighting ongoing challenges in this area.
