The Public Security Department of Uzbekistan's Ministry of Internal Affairs has announced the results of the first 10 days of a large-scale campaign against road hooliganism. Since February 26, four special groups have been conducting uncompromising work to identify aggressive drivers and curb serious traffic violations across the republic.

A special monitoring group shifted its focus to social networks. During the reporting period, 391 videos depicting road hooliganism were identified online. Content analysis allowed for the identification of 338 drivers, against whom administrative protocols have already been drawn up. Authorities also blocked 19 accounts specializing in promoting dangerous driving and illegal racing.

The raids also targeted physical gathering spots for street racers: 33 locations and streets where violators regularly congregated were identified. As a result of inspections, 296 vehicles were sent to impound lots.

The overall statistics from the 10-day raids are striking in their scale: 16,845 serious traffic violations were detected, 101 cases of underage driving were recorded, 75 incidents related to the circulation of drugs and psychotropic substances were prevented at night, and 1,024 units of illegally carried cold weapons (stabbing and cutting objects) were seized.

Law enforcement paid special attention to infrastructure that facilitates road hooliganism. Preventive talks were held with managers of auto repair shops and tuning studios. Workshops were warned about liability for making unauthorized modifications to vehicle designs, which are often used for dangerous maneuvers and races on public roads.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasized that the work of the special groups continues in an enhanced mode. The safety of citizens and tranquility on city streets remain priority tasks for the Department.
