Uzbekistan has commenced the implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects aimed at fundamentally transforming transport logistics between the capital and key regions of the country. Asliddin Isayev, Director of the Avtoyulinvest agency, revealed in an interview with O’zbekiston 24 TV channel that the new Tashkent-Samarkand highway is designed to alleviate congestion on the existing road, which sees a daily traffic flow of 55,000–60,000 vehicles. The project includes 12 interchanges and full digitalization with an intelligent transport system, reducing travel time to 2–2.5 hours. Major Chinese companies from the global top 100 have shown interest in financing.

The total length of this highway will be 314 kilometers, with the first phase involving construction of a 171-kilometer section from Tashkent to Angren and the Kamchik Pass. A key feature will be a four-lane tunnel that could become one of the largest in Central Asia. The highway is being designed by the international company Arup with support from the World Bank, with a planned speed of 120–150 km/h, cutting travel time to Andijan to just 2–2.5 hours instead of the current five.

A 52-kilometer road to the Charvak tourist zone will be built within three years, with preliminary agreements already reached with companies from Qatar and South Korea. Travel time is expected to decrease from 80 to 35 minutes, addressing the issue of multi-kilometer traffic jams on weekends and holidays and significantly boosting the region's tourist appeal.

Asliddin Isayev emphasized that toll rates for the new roads will be determined through negotiations with investors, but with mandatory consideration of the population's financial capabilities. The option of opening road sections gradually as they are completed is also under consideration.
