Uzbekistan's energy system has faced a record-breaking load. On Wednesday, March 11, 2026, the country recorded an absolute peak in electricity consumption for the first month of spring. The daily indicator reached 267 million kWh, which is 14 million kWh higher than the same day last year.

Particular strain on the grid was observed during evening hours. At 18:12, the maximum load on the energy system amounted to 12,680 MW—this is 480 MW above the March 2025 peak. To meet growing demands, the republic's power plants increased generation to 272 million kWh, demonstrating a growth of 12 million kWh compared to the previous year.

The key feature of the new record was the high share of environmentally clean energy. In the structure of daily generation, renewable energy sources (RES) accounted for 20.9%. At the same time, the share of solar and wind power plants (SPP and WPP) reached 14.3%. During daytime hours, the contribution of “green” generation to the country's overall energy balance reached up to 35%.

The sector's development dynamics are impressive: in February 2026, the volume of generation from SPP and WPP increased by 203% compared to February of the previous year. If in 2025, 401 million kWh were obtained from renewable sources during that month, this year the indicator reached 815 million kWh. Of this, 371 million kWh were provided by solar photovoltaic stations and 444 million kWh by wind generators.

The Ministry of Energy emphasizes that it is precisely the rapid expansion of RES capacities that allows the energy system to withstand new consumption peaks while maintaining stability and expanding the share of environmentally clean production.
