The two-horse Premier League title race between Arsenal and Manchester City has reached crunch time, as the 2025-26 season enters its final week. Both sides have two games left – Arsenal play on Monday, City on Tuesday, and then both head into the last day of the season on Sunday, May 24.
Arsenal lead by two points. If the Gunners win their final two games, they will lift the Premier League trophy for the first time in 22 years. However, City have a one-goal advantage in goal difference (75 to 68) and a superior head-to-head record (a 2-1 win in April and a 1-1 draw in September).
On paper, Arsenal's run-in looks easier: they host already-relegated Burnley and then travel to 15th-placed Crystal Palace, who are safe and focused on the Europa Conference League final. City face a tougher path: away to Bournemouth, chasing Champions League qualification, and home to Aston Villa, who have secured a UCL spot but may be fatigued after the Europa League final.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said: “First of all, we have to earn the right to win the game. To make a difference with more goals, even better.” City manager Pep Guardiola stated: “If they win two games, nothing to do, nothing to talk. All we can be is in there just in case.” Guardiola also revealed that after winning the FA Cup 1-0 against Chelsea, the team did not celebrate: “Home – not even one beer. Next Monday, after Aston Villa, we were going to celebrate with the women's team, but no, we do not have time now.”
Arsenal have won the English top flight 13 times, most recently in 2004. City have won 10 titles, the vast majority since 2012, with Guardiola claiming six of them.
