Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi has arrived in New Delhi for her first official visit to India since taking office. She was welcomed by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The two leaders are scheduled to hold their annual summit to discuss ways to further deepen bilateral ties. Modi posted on X: “I look forward to exchanging views across a wide range of fields tomorrow to further deepen the Japan-India Special Strategic and Global Partnership.”
After a welcome ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Takaichi proceeded to Hyderabad House for talks with Modi. Ahead of the trip, she stated that the visit would focus on expanding cooperation through government and private sector participation, including the Japan-India Economic Forum, with over 150 Japanese business representatives expected to attend.
During the visit, Takaichi and Modi will inaugurate a Maruti Suzuki India manufacturing facility in the northern state of Haryana, highlighting economic collaboration.
Meanwhile, Delhi is experiencing cooler weather as monsoon rains bring relief from the heat, with more rain expected throughout the day.
