Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg attended a rally at London's Trafalgar Square organized by the Students' Federation of India (SFI) to celebrate the successes of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest movement in India.

"The Indian student protest has made us all proud! They have given us hope! They show what we can accomplish when people come together and resist. They show the true meaning of people power," Thunberg said, calling for global solidarity with the Indian students' struggle for justice and democracy.

The CJP called off its nationwide mass protest on July 27 after the Indian government allegedly assured that no punitive action would be taken against protesters. However, reports have emerged of students being targeted, detained, or arrested in states like Assam, West Bengal, and Bihar.

In a statement, the CJP demanded the immediate release of all detained protesters and the withdrawal of police investigations, reminding the government of its commitment to provide a written guarantee by July 28. The party also called for an end to coercive actions across the country.

The movement, which began over educational reforms, has expanded to address broader issues. Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi has demanded an apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for alleged police brutality during the protests.
