The Uzbek Hydrometeorological Service (UzGidromet) has officially stated that rumors circulating on social media about 'acid clouds' forming in Iran and potentially reaching Central Asian territories are scientifically unfounded. The agency emphasized: "This information lacks scientific basis, and the transport of acid precipitation to the territory of Uzbekistan and neighboring states is practically impossible."

Acid precipitation primarily forms near major industrial zones due to the long-term accumulation of sulfur and nitrogen oxides in the atmosphere and their chemical reaction with water vapor in clouds. According to UzGidromet's commentary, during the long-distance movement of air masses, the concentration of pollutants sharply decreases under the influence of atmospheric turbulence, vertical mixing, and dry and wet deposition processes.

The agency also noted that precipitation formation is linked to local cloud-forming processes and is mainly shaped by water vapor and aerosols present in the atmosphere over a given area. Based on meteorological observations and air quality monitoring data, no risk of acid clouds moving to the territory of Uzbekistan and adjacent countries has been observed.

UzGidromet called on media outlets and social media users to refrain from spreading unverified and false information, relying solely on official sources. The agency reminded that disseminating false or unconfirmed information in mass media and social networks entails liability measures as established by current legislation.

Recall that after Israeli military strikes on fuel storage facilities in the Iranian capital Tehran, thick smoke from large fires covered the city's sky, and the release of toxic substances led to 'oil rains' falling on the city. This raised concerns about the situation potentially affecting the ecological conditions in the region.
