Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover in January 2026 amounted to $5.8 billion, as reported by the National Committee on Statistics. The country's main trading partners remain China and Russia, which account for nearly half of the total trade volume, highlighting the continued reliance on these key economic relationships amid global uncertainties.
The largest trade volume was recorded with China at $1.6 billion, while Russia ranked second with $1.1 billion. This underscores Uzbekistan's economic ties with its major neighbors, though it also raises questions about diversification and potential vulnerabilities in the face of shifting geopolitical dynamics.
Among other key partners, Kazakhstan stands out with a trade volume of $414.1 million, and Turkey follows with $207.4 million. The top ten trading partners for the start of the year also included Afghanistan ($139.6 million), the Republic of Korea ($126.8 million), France ($123.6 million), Germany ($106.9 million), Turkmenistan ($96.6 million), and the UAE ($94.3 million), reflecting a broader network of economic engagements.
Notably, trade with Afghanistan has shown significant growth: by the end of 2025, the trade turnover between the two countries reached $1.5 billion, a 53% increase compared to 2024. In the future, the parties aim to raise this figure to $5 billion, indicating ambitious plans to deepen regional economic cooperation despite ongoing challenges in the area.
