In Jizzakh Region, the head of the preschool and school education department has been arrested for taking a bribe. The incident was uncovered during an operational measure conducted jointly by the State Security Service and prosecutor's office.

The official demanded 4.8 million soums from the head of a state preschool institution in exchange for not conducting an inspection. He was caught red-handed while receiving the money.

A criminal case has been initiated under Article 210 of the Criminal Code (Bribe-taking). The investigation has also revealed other illegal activities, including embezzlement, official forgery, and money laundering of criminal proceeds.

Previously, it was found that an official from one of Uzbekistan's leading banks demanded $110,000 to settle a tax debt. The deputy head of the operations department was arrested while receiving $30,000.
