A criminal case has been initiated in Kokand, Uzbekistan, following a domestic gas explosion in a residential apartment building that resulted in the death of a young man.

The Investigative Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan reported the incident.

The tragedy occurred on February 25 in one of the apartment buildings in the "Buston" neighborhood. The gas explosion caused a fire and damage to several apartments.

During cleanup operations, rescuers found the body of a 19-year-old male under the debris.

Preliminary information indicates the youth sustained fatal injuries from a collapsed concrete slab and died at the scene. No other casualties have been reported.

Investigative authorities are examining the site, collecting evidence, interviewing witnesses, and determining all circumstances of the incident.

A criminal case has been opened under Article 259, Part 2, Clause "a" ("Violation of fire safety rules resulting in death"). The investigation is ongoing.
