Uzbekistan, Tashkent – AN Podrobno.uz. The Sverdlovsk Regional Museum of Local Lore holds a unique historical artifact – a fragment of a marble slab from the mausoleum of Amir Timur.

This was announced during a meeting between Uzbek diplomats and the museum's leadership.

It has been established that the exhibit was brought to the Urals by Lieutenant General Alexander Baranov during the Russian Empire's military campaigns in Turkestan, which lasted from 1868 to 1878. At that time, the Timurid dynasty mausoleum in Samarkand was destroyed, and the unique fragment was removed.

Later, the artifact was displayed at the Ural-Siberian Exhibition in 1887 and donated to the Sverdlovsk Regional Museum of Local Lore.

During the meeting, diplomats also reviewed other historical relics related to Uzbekistan's cultural heritage.

Recall that in honor of the 690th anniversary of the great commander's birth, April 2026 will be declared Amir Timur Month in Uzbekistan.
