Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation on the construction of freight wagons at enterprises within the structure of JSC "Uzbekistan Railways" and the prospective plans for the coming years.
It was noted at the meeting that in 2023–2025, 1,590 semi-wagons have been produced under a $105 million project. This enables an increase in freight turnover for domestic and international transport, as well as ensuring the stability of logistics chains.
Additionally, under a new $150 million phase for 2025–2026, construction of freight and passenger wagons is underway, along with modernization of wagon repair and production enterprises within JSC "Uzbekistan Railways." Under the project, construction of 954 freight and 70 passenger wagons has begun.
To date, 45 passenger wagons and 340 tank wagons have been produced under this project. By the end of this year, an additional 614 freight and 25 passenger wagons will be manufactured.
In the coming years, $100 million will be allocated to sharply increase freight wagon production volumes, allowing for the delivery of 1,350 freight wagons. To achieve this, the task has been set this year to increase industrial enterprise capacities by 1.5 times and produce 2,000 freight wagons.
The head of state gave relevant instructions to responsible officials on updating the wagon fleet, increasing transport volumes, and optimizing costs.
