President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the results of a $287 million large-scale drinking water supply project during his visit to Surkhandarya region. The project, utilizing water from the Tupalang reservoir, now provides uninterrupted drinking water to ten districts and the city of Termez.

246 kilometers of main and internal networks have been constructed, with modern technologies implemented. Over the past 8-9 years, centralized water supply coverage has increased from 47% to 67.5% of the population. Stable water supply is ensured in 223 mahallas, and water hardness has nearly halved.

Innovative solutions enable water pressure supply without pumps, reducing energy consumption and enhancing system reliability. Annually, 18.4 million kilowatt-hours of electricity (approximately 18.5 billion soums) are saved. The need for over 100 wells has been eliminated, reducing environmental impact. Solar panels with a total capacity of 6.4 megawatts have been installed on a 10-hectare area.

The president also reviewed the region's hydropower indicators and issued instructions to replace outdated pumping equipment with modern energy-efficient models and upgrade networks.
