On September 19, Uzbek citizen Mohirano Meliyeva died in Istanbul as a result of poisoning from a pharmaceutical substance. The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul reported the incident.

According to the consulate, the woman was treated at home during her illness with the help of unofficial doctors. As a result of the adverse effects of the medications taken during this process, her condition worsened, an infection developed in her blood, and a severe reaction was observed in her body.

Nevertheless, she was not taken to a hospital in time, and home treatment continued. When the patient's condition became serious, she was first taken to Marmara Hospital. Since that medical facility did not have the capacity to place the patient in the intensive care unit, the woman was transferred to Kartal District Hospital.

Despite the doctors' efforts, it was not possible to save the woman's life. The body of the deceased was repatriated with the cooperation of the Consulate General and the Migration Agency of Uzbekistan.

The Consulate General called on compatriots in Turkey to take a responsible approach to their health. "It is recommended not to take medicines and preparations without a doctor's prescription, and to avoid treatment by unofficial persons and those without appropriate qualifications. In case of a sharp deterioration in health, it is necessary to contact official medical institutions without delay," the consulate said.
