The first results of a pilot project for environmental certification of vehicles have been announced in Tashkent. To date, approximately 113,000 cars in the capital have received special environmental stickers.

The project officially remains in experimental status and is currently limited to Tashkent city and certain districts of Tashkent region. Of the total stickers issued, about 3,000 were registered in the region, with the majority in Tashkent city.

The environmental sticker serves as a visual indicator of a vehicle's compliance with Euro standards and is divided into three categories: green (higher environmental standards), yellow (lower standards), and red (vehicles not meeting modern requirements).

A vehicle's environmental class is determined automatically based on manufacturer data. If information is unavailable, owners can undergo diagnostics at specialized centers. Four such centers are operational in Tashkent.

The sticker is linked to a specific vehicle and owner. It is canceled upon sale, and the new owner must reapply.

Citizens can apply for the sticker through the government services portal my.gov.uz. In this case, the sticker is mailed to the applicant. The procedure is free, with only postal fees applicable.

The project aims to regulate transport, which accounts for 60-70% of air pollution in major Uzbek cities. Currently, no fines or restrictions are imposed as the system is in pilot mode.
