A woman's body was discovered in a forest area in Turkey's Balikesir province on March 2. Due to significant decomposition from prolonged exposure to the natural environment, identification at the scene was impossible. According to preliminary investigation findings, the deceased may be 46-year-old Samarqand native Dilafruz Chuliyeva. She had been reported missing since January 21 of this year. Preserved clothing fragments matching the description of items she was last seen in point to her likely identity.
In connection with Dilafruz Chuliyeva's disappearance case, Turkish law enforcement detained another Uzbek national. The detention was based on technical data: the last signal from the missing woman's mobile phone was recorded near this man's residence.
It was established that 46-year-old Dilafruz Chuliyeva resided legally in Turkey and worked in the Burhaniye district of Balikesir province. Since her disappearance on January 21, authorities had explored various theories, but after the discovery on March 2, the investigation focused on a violent death scenario.
Uzbekistan's diplomatic missions in Turkey are in contact with Turkish police to coordinate the identification process and protect citizens' rights. The missing woman's family has been informed of the discovery and awaits DNA analysis results.
This incident follows the recent case of two Uzbek women murdered in Istanbul in January, which has heightened authorities' attention to foreign nationals' safety.
