Uzbekistan's Intellectual Property Agency has imposed a substantial fine on a local enterprise for using a brand that imitates the globally renowned drug "No-Shpa".

The inspection was initiated following a complaint from Hungarian company Opella Healthcare Hungary Kft., which holds the trademark rights to "No-Shpa". Market analysis revealed that a local entrepreneur had begun producing pharmaceutical products under the brand "Dro-Shpa".

Agency experts concluded that this name is "confusingly similar" to the original brand. Using such a phonetically similar name not only infringes on the foreign manufacturer's rights but also risks consumers mistakenly purchasing counterfeit products, believing them to be the trusted drug.

For the intellectual property rights violation, the legal entity was fined 200 basic calculation units (BCU), equivalent to 82.4 million Uzbek soums.

The agency reiterated the inadmissibility of exploiting others' business reputation for commercial purposes. Citizens can report similar cases of brand imitation via the hotline 1008 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Previously, similar claims arose from Russian company "Polisorb". It was found that a dietary supplement named "Polisorb Ent" had appeared in pharmacies, copying the name of the well-known sorbent without any connection to the original production.
